When people tell me their skin concern, the usual solution is EXFOLIATION. I say that so often that clients laugh and ask if it’s my only answer. It isn’t, but it usually is the answer to your skin issue!

The best way to make your makeup smoother
The best way to brighten dark spots and discoloration
The best way to help even out skin texture
The best way to clean out enlarged follicles (pores)
The best way to remove dead dry flakiness
The best to renew and start over the cellular turnover rate (CTR): Means the time period it takes for the new skin cells to reach the top of the skin which is what we see. Usually takes 30 days for the process. This is why products will take between a month to 6 months to see results depending on your CTR and other factors.)
In order to understand the importance of exfoliation, I should probably explain the layers of skin.
The visible layer of skin is the stratum corneum. Under a magnifying glass you can see the flak like appearance. Those small flakes are dead skin cells who have worked their way up the layers and progressively aged and dehydrated. The best solution to keeping your skin look softer and smoother is removing those dead skin cells and replenishing the skin with moisture and nutrients. And above all protecting the skin with Sun Protection since it is now more delicate. The sun can turn exfoliated skin into aged skin quickly when abused. Wearing SPF after can prevent sun spots, age spots, broken down collagen and elastin.

Think of Exfoliation as a gentle at home Face Peel. Exfoliation can range from wiping your face with a towel to using a scrub with beads to chemicals like AHA or BHA.
You can use a gentle daily exfoliation almost everyday to using a strong one twice a week. Depending on your skin type and the product will determine your usage. ALWAYS READ DIRECTIONS. It is recommended that way from years of testing, trials, and plenty of lawsuits. Probably best to listen to the professional, or in that case the product.
Don’t be afraid to try. Companies like Sephora thrive on is finding the right product for the right person. They sample. Dont be shy. Its a great way to find what doesn’t give you an allergic reaction, or isn’t too aggressive for your skin type. Sensitive skin types might stay away from salt or sugar exfoliators. Oily skin loves more agressive exfoliation. Acne spreads with some exofoliators.
